The mission of Design Incubation is to support and facilitate the development of research in the field of communication design. The organization works with academics and practitioners to create scholarly discourse and publications focused on creative projects, critical analysis, historical perspectives, technological advances and other topics relevant to design studies.
Design Incubation offers Fellowships to encourage and facilitate scholarly pursuits within the field. Under guidance of senior faculty members and workshop mentors, participants will work on written research projects such as reviews, journal articles, and books. During the Design Incubation Fellowship, participants practice the fundamentals of editing for peer review and explore various publishing options suited to their projects. Design Incubation Fellowships are open to academics in one or more of the following areas: graphic design, information design, branding, marketing, advertising, typography, web, interaction, film and video, animation, illustration, game design.
